This layer was provided by the U.S. Navy (NAS Whidbey) in about 2007. This layer shows the location of the Clear Zones at NAS Whidbey and the OLF, and the Accident Potential Zone surrounding NAS Whidbey. This layer is used by ICP&CD for land use regulation near the naval airfields on the island. Island County does not have jurisdiction over the APZ location, size or shape, as this is set by the Navy. Island County chose to adopt into its local Zoning Code the APZ as delineated by the Navy. Island County uses this layer to review proposals for development within or near the APZ.
